William Westmoreland

What inspired me to start this practice was growing up in a small town. I went to a small town dentist. I enjoyed going to see that dentist. I have nothing but good memories of being at that dental practice. I was real surprised when I took a job on the outskirts of Augusta here at this practice, and it really did have a small town dentist feel to it. I enjoyed working here. I really enjoyed treating the patients here. Guys who owned the practice were ready to sell. It was a good fit. I bought the practice. That’s kind of my story there. What drives me is definitely my faith and my relationship with God. I see every single one of my patients as wonderfully made in God’s image, and my goal is to restore their mouths to the health and beauty and function that God intended. We’re a general practice. We see the whole family. If you’re a young mother and you have kids, bring your kids, we’ll see ’em. If you have parents, if you’re getting at that age at retirement, we see you guys too. We see everybody. We’re here for the whole community. I think what makes my practice different is really in what my patients tell me. I constantly hear patients telling me that my staff really provide great customer service and that they make them feel like family. My approach to care is that I want every patient to be an active participant in their care. I want my patients to take ownership in the help of their mouth and the treatment that I’m providing. I can’t tell you how many times patients have come to my practice and just been pleasantly surprised by how we’ve listened to them and how we spend time with them. I let ’em know exactly what I’m going to do. I’m honest with them. I don’t tell ’em that it’s going to be painless if they might feel a little something, but we do try to make it as comfortable as we can. Some of our technology that we have is digital x-rays that helps us see things that we couldn’t see before. I think our newest technology is a scanner, which has been so great. Patients love it because instead of using that gooey impression material, we can just scan your mouth to the computer and send it to the lab. When I think about why I do what I do, I just think about stories. I think about patients. I think about this one young mother who came to see me and was missing all four front teeth. We were able to get her some implants and do some crown and bridge across the front of her mouth, and her smile just looked so great and just to see the look on her face when she saw that just made it so worth it. Our labs will make our crowns and make our removable appliances, and if you grind your teeth, we’ll get a lab to make a night guard. I know a lot of patients don’t have insurance, but we actually do have a savings plan here for patients who don’t have insurance, and we actually do work with two different companies that help with financing. So if that’s a problem, it’s not a problem. You can come see us, a dentist and staff who are willing to listen to your questions, willing to give you answers, willing to spend time with you. You’ll find excellent customer service that’s really centered around helping you feel comfortable, and you’ll also find a dentist that’s going to give you comprehensive care that’s centered around your desires and your wants.

Dr. William Westmoreland earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical College of Georgia (now the Dental College of Georgia) in 2003.

Originally from LaGrange, Georgia, Dr. Westmoreland has called Augusta home for over twenty years. He and his wife found Augusta’s unique blend of big-city convenience and small-town warmth to be a perfect fit for their family, and he has been proud to build his dental career there ever since. In 2018, they moved into a brand-new office and rebranded as Westmoreland Family Dentistry—a name that truly reflects the families they serve daily.

Passion for Craft and Compassion

Dr. Westmoreland’s father encouraged him to build a future using his hands. Early on, after shadowing a dentist, he discovered a calling he couldn’t ignore. Since then, dentistry has become his way of making a meaningful impact in people’s lives, and he can honestly say there’s nothing more rewarding.

Whether it’s preventive, restorative, or cosmetic dental care, Dr. Westmoreland finds it most fulfilling to see a patient leave the office feeling better than when they arrived. He commits years to ongoing training to stay updated on the latest dental techniques and technologies because delivering the best care requires a dedication to lifelong learning.

Life Beyond the Practice

When he’s not at the office, Dr. Westmoreland is deeply involved with his local church. He also loves giving back through volunteer work and has had the privilege of serving on dental mission trips in Peru, Ecuador, and Trinidad, providing care to those who need it most.

At home, life is always full of energy with his three very active boys—and one equally active dog. Whether in the office or on the go, Dr. Westmoreland is grateful for the opportunity to care for others and make a difference, one smile at a time.
